All Of Us Right Now! is the ninth full-length from Seattle psych-rock mainstays The Purrs — a record charged with urgency, friction, and hard-won endurance. Formed in 2000 after filling their lineup via a classified ad in The Stranger, the band has spent 25 years refining a galvanized blend of Brit-pop shimmer, blues-soaked shoegaze, and nocturnal punk romanticism. “I’ve never been more depressed and angrier in my life,” says bassist and lead vocalist Jima — and that tension fuels the record. All Of Us Right Now! channels the disorientation of the COVID years and political fracture — chaos that fueled a creative stall, and the band clawed their way out of it. That hard-won return is all over this record. All four members contribute to the songwriting: guitarists Jason and Liz trade shimmer and abrasion while drummer Dusty drives with crisp restraint. Midway hrough, the band delivers a shoegaze-leaning take on Robyn Hitchcock’s “Queen Elvis.” Produced by Johnny Sangster (Mudhoney, The Posies) and mastered by Ed Brooks at Resonant, the album’s haze is grounded in clarity. After nearly three decades, The Purrs remain emotionally unvarnished — romantic, restless, and very much awake.
