Dina Summer is the collaborative project formed from electro-punk band Frittenbude member, Kalipo, dark-disco DJ and producer duo, Local Suicide, and frontwoman Dina. Recognized as one of the key dark electronic albums of the year, Girls Gang blends dark disco, EBM, new wave, and synth-pop with powerful vocals and strong themes of empowerment, alienation, and nostalgia. The sophomore longplayer is more song-oriented than the debut album, often featuring real bass and guitar, and showcasing a more vocal-driven performance from Dina that incorporates more singing alongside her trademark spoken words. Yet, Girl Gang retains the same catchy melodies Dina Summer is known for, offering both indie pop hymns and a few undeniable club anthems. Praised across the board from Rolling Stone to Mixmag, Girls Gang also earned features on stations such as KEXP and BBC Radio 1. This is a limited repress.
