Entitled MXD, the album is a set of 9 sprawling epics adorned with bubbling electronica synths, McCaslin's celestial saxophone, and Dahle's singular vocals. It contains traces of the duo's acclaimed solo works, building on each other's strengths while incorporating contributions from mixer Dave Fridmann and a band of world-renowned musicians to catapult the songs to an even higher level.
