Rivers of Nihil Returns with Their 2025 Self-Titled Album
Sixteen years and five albums after their formation, progressive death metal pioneers Rivers of Nihil are pushing their sound further with their 2025 self-titled release. Traditionally, a self-titled album can signify a return to roots or a bold new direction—on this record, Rivers of Nihil embraces both.
This marks the first full-length release with founding bassist Adam Biggs as the band’s lead vocalist, a role he stepped into in 2023. That same year also saw the addition of guitarist Andy Thomas (ex-Black Crown Initiate), whose vocal contributions add new depth to the band's evolving sound. Across ten powerful tracks and more than 50 minutes of music, producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio capture this dynamic shift with precision and intensity.
With a balance of technical mastery and raw emotion, Rivers of Nihil delivers a fresh yet familiar take on their signature style, setting a new benchmark for progressive death metal in 2025.
