The WindyNation DC1230 is an intelligent DC-DC charge controller capable of charging the house battery from both a starter battery that is connected to the vehicle alternator and by solar panels connected directly to the controller.
When used in vehicles with dual batteries (house/service battery or battery bank and your vehicles engine starting battery), the house/service battery is charged by the solar input by default and once the vehicle’s auxiliary/starter battery is active and fully charged by the vehicle’s alternator, the additional charge from the alternator will be sent to the service/house battery automatically. The controller is user adjustable, so users can change the charge priority between the main and the starter batteries and force charge to the battery of choice.
The negative ground controller features a 12V and 24V DC auto-detect feature that identifies the battery voltage upon initial battery connection. Additionally, the DC1230 utilizes Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) which maximizes the solar charging amperage and allows for highly efficient, battery-friendly charging.
The main enclosure is designed to be mounted in the battery compartment and attaches to a remote LCD display that can be mounted in the cabin providing an aesthetically appealing look. WindyNation’s DC-DC charger can also communicate with smartphones and tablets via Bluetooth (app download required). The user can configure settings using the remote LCD display or by using their smartphone or tablet after the app is installed.
